First Black Woman Elected Mayor of a U.S. Municipality is from Ohio

#ohioblackexpo Ellen Walker Craig-Jones is the first African-American woman to be elected mayor of a municipality in the United States of America. She was elected mayor in 1971 of a small predominantly Black town called Urbancrest (near the suburb Grove City) on the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio.
