Presented in cooperation with the Alzheimer’s Association

Have you ever been concerned about changes you have seen in a loved one’s memory or thinking? Been concerned about these changes in yourself? The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s education program will help you learn about the common warning signs of Alzheimer’s and the difference between what is normal aging and what is not.

Caregiving for a person with dementia can be very challenging. The Effective Communication Strategies education program is designed to provide practical tips for caregivers throughout the course of the disease. As part of the Seniors and Caregivers Workshop, the education portion of the program will conclude with a Q&A session to answer questions and provide information about available resources.

Memory Loss Epidemic

Join us as we explore signs, symptoms, causes, and resources for patients and caregivers dealing with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Anxiety, and Depression.

In a medical study of African American seniors, 330 individuals received free memory check-ups at various community sites. Of the individuals screened, 180 (53%) required further evaluation through the memory clinic

According to the CDC, among people ages 65 or older, African Americans have the highest prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (13.8%), followed by Hispanics (12.2%), and non-hispanic whites (10.3%), and so on.

With memory loss being a major sign of the early onset of Alzheimer’s Disease, these statistics prove that African Americans are more frequently affected by this condition, a topic that needs our attention!
